Roger Staiger (FRICS) is Managing Director for Stage Capital, LLC, a global advisory firm in real estate financial modelling, portfolio management and asset repositioning. He holds faculty positions at George Washington University, Georgetown University and Johns Hopkins University. He has held many senior positions including Managing Director for Constellation Energy’s Retail Commodity Division and CFO for America’s Best Builder 2006.

The book is great. It discusses areas of real estate analysis that few others are considering. The sections discussing risk and how to calculate probability of loss are very valuable. The book contains a thorough step by step guide to building an excellent real estate financial model.

A perfect example of why you hire copy-editors.

I'm a Ph.D. candidate who spends most of his days reading technical books and papers. Errors are common, even for the biggest names in any field. It's hard writing technical work. However, I don't think I've read anything with so many errors before.
Eventually, this may be a good book. The author certainly seems knowledgable, and he covers exactly what you would want in a modeling book. But, Routledge had no business publishing this in its current quality. For $60+, I'd expect them to spend a bit of money on the editing process.
I feel ripped off.

SIGNIFICANT amount of errors but somewhat helpful.

I thought this book was pretty useful until about halfway through until I realized it is riddled with errors, possibly invalidating any credibility this whole book has. Yes, the first 8 or so chapters had its errors, some that were easily discernible and others which took some considerable time to solve, but right after the N Unit Multifamily chapter the errors start becoming greater in number to the point you question the entirety of this book.
That being said it was still somewhat helpful to give you an idea of how to map out a real-estate pro forma but you should really take everything in this with a grain of salt as it could very well be incorrect. Verify for yourself the information you obtain from this book.
