The Broke and Beautiful Life finds the perfect balance throughout

Stefanie O'Connell introduces The Broke and Beautiful Life as her own search for balance between securing her future and living a life that doesn't feel stifled.
Ms. O'Connell's story strikes a pitch-perfect chord of practical, easy-to-follow advice on living a beautiful life, frugally, while recounting her personal journey through the very unique perspective -- especially among finance authors -- of an actor working to make ends-meet in New York.
The advice is well-researched enough to feel universal, and the stories of chasing her goals are well-written enough that before long, you find yourself cheering for her.
While so much other writing on the topic either spoon feeds solutions to readers or assumes too much about the reader, Ms. O'Connell's book provides something we all could use -- the inspiration to get started and to keep moving.
After all, who wouldn't want their life to feel a little more beautiful?

Best Practical & Inspirational Money Primer I've Ever Read!

This book tops my list now as the personal finance book I plan to give to friends and family and anyone who needs to learn how to manage their money better. Stefanie O'Connell is one of the few writers who can make topics like budgeting and retirement planning easy to understand, relatable and even entertaining at times. It's easy to tell people to follow their passion, but Stefanie provides the necessary practical advice that needs to follow that statement yet rarely does. Unlike lots of other books offering empty platitudes or just a lot of stories, Stefanie follows up with chapters chock full of actionable tips to help the readers take tangible steps towards financial independence. I can't think of a better gift to give a high school or college grad - even as someone pretty secure in how their handling their finances, I found some helpful tips and really found reading The Broke and Beautiful Life was worth my time.

SUPER! While "The Broke and Beautiful Life" is meant to be targeted at Millenials to help young adults manage through their early years on their own, I beg to differ! After reading this, I firmly believe the book is ideal for ANYONE and EVERYONE, even for someone past the Millenial years. These days, I know very few people who do not sometimes feel "broke" or do not want to be "beautiful". So, consider this book a gift to yourself (or others) to help you navigate the challenging financial waters on your way to the "beautiful life".
Stefanie O'Connell masterfully blends sound, well researched financial advice with an open and candid voice rarely heard. Her genuine, pragmatic approach and willingness to expose her dreams and fears make this book very engaging. Stefanie demonstrates an uncanny ability to speak about a broad array of financial topics which can be complicated and intimidating in a friendly, direct and non-judgmental way. I particularly appreciate that she does not preach, she suggests; she does not criticize, she shares; she does not talk down from on high, she speaks like one of us on the ground.
So, I recommend you check out this book immediately -- it's a great read and more importantly it's a great deal for today and great advice for the long term.
